Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she was awarded an Emmy Award. Her most well-known role is her part in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of the United Auto Workers senior executive and domestic worker was raised with her four brothers and sisters. The idea of becoming a court reporter in her early years, but began modeling in high school and eventually gaining commercials after moving into New York. Her first role as an actor was as an innocent teenager in the show All My Children. Delaney's career has been filled with a variety of television shows and dramas. Like her career however, her private life has not been happy or successful. The talented actress was afflicted with alcoholism in the past and had two marriages that failed. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
